My story
A lifetime artist, I received an award at age 13 for a watercolor figure painting of my classmate, but since then has become a self-taught oil painter. I've participated in several group exhibitions and also had a solo exhibition in Sacramento in 2001. My work has also been featured in the Fall 2015 Issue of the Oceanside Museum of Art publication Viewpoint. Although I am right-handed by birth, I've learned to paint mostly with my left hand since suffering a stroke in 2003.
In my practice, I use mostly linen canvasses which I painstakingly pre-prime three or more times to ensure a smooth surface and then I do not usually began painting on a canvas until the underpainting is completed and dried for six weeks. I do not use varnish on any of my completed paintings.
